Manickavelu M (Manix) is Program Director delivering Assistive Technology solutions and Corporate Social Responsibility projects at Mindtree Foundation, Bengaluru.

Manix is involved in number of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects supporting under-previledged children category, and specifically Persons with Disability (PwDs).

Interview with Prof Shanti Bhattacharya, Dept of Electrical Engineering, IIT Chennai & Namita Jacob Chetana Charitable Trust

Dr. Shanti Bhattacharya is a Founder Trustee of Chetana Charitable Trust. The Trust seeks to increase awareness on issues of social importance. Shanti is the author of ‘Where is the Button?’, a book for children learning to read, suitable for both the normal and the visually impaired child. In addition to her work on Accessible Reading Materials, she is an enthusiastic birder and enjoys many outdoor activities. Shanti is currently a faculty member in the Dept. of Electrical Engg., at IIT-Madras, and a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship for her research on optical devices.

Dr.Namita Jacob is Program Director, Chetana Trust, a volunteer - based organization pioneering projects promoting access to health and education. Their flagship project, the “I COUNT” registry, documented visual abilities in children with developmental disabilities generating system change in services to infants in Chennai. As Advisor with national & international organizations on sensory impairments, multiple disabilities & early childhood development, her work includes direct services, research, professional development and creating resources for individuals with disabilities, their families and professionals who serve them. She authored: What and How does this Child see? with Dr. Lea Hyvarinen and Helping children who are Blind, with Sandy Neiman, used across the world as reference books.
